Peter Shanahan, CFP®, MPAS®

Peter is a founding partner of Church Street Wealth Advisors of Steward Partners. He is an industry veteran with over 35 years experience. Peter graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1985. He has held the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification since 1993, and the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation since 2008. In 2017, Peter completed his masters degree in financial planning, and he now holds the designation of Master Planner Advanced Studies (MPAS).

Past and current affiliations and board memberships include: Aging Projects, Inc., board member, Interfaith Assistance Ministry, Planned Giving Committee member, Pardee Hospital, planned giving committee, Congregational Church of Tryon, Trustee and Deacon, Tryon Little Theater Board of Directors, Collinsville Equestrian Trails Association, president. Peter is also a member of American Mensa.

Peter has lectured on portfolio construction and tax planning at the training center of American Express Financial Advisors, and at Hilliard Lyons’ annual meeting. He has also been a contributing writer for the equestrian magazine, “Sidelines”, on financial topics related to horse and farm ownership
Originally from Long Island, Peter came to Western North Carolina in 1992. He and his wife, Martha, are active in the equestrian community in the Tryon area.
